Pixies Ryman Auditorium Nashville

Last night I went to the Ryman Auditorium (original home of the Grand Ole Opry) to see Pixies live! Great show for the most part. The opener was a two man electronic experimental noise band from Bristol England called F*ck Buttons. Reminded me a lot of Moby’s older stuff, but not really the crowd or venue for them. Pixies played a handful of B-Sides to warm the show up and followed with their 3rd album Doolittle in its entirety. It never looked like anyone was having more fun than drummer David Lovering was the entire night! It was one of those opportunities that I never thought I’d actually have. I’ve met Frank Black on a few occasions playing solo, but to see them all back up playing the songs was a real treat. I was glad to strike another item off the old bucket list. The show had a few difficulties that I’m sure were ironed out for the Saturday show, but I don’t think anyone left disappointed…except the girl in front of us who came back from the bathroom crying and upset like she had been groped or something horrible only to learn it was because her fiance didn’t go with her…my advice to that guy…run! and be very afraid!!!
