Checkered Lunch
Well, it’s a little after 5 on Tuesday and I have to say I feel pretty good today despite the lack of sleep I’ve gotten over the past week. My semester is finally done! I’m excited about this. Last night I was about to go put the road slicks on my mountain bike, but decided to check my email first and saw another one from my professor. I was able to get online and finish my assignments I was unable to do Sunday, so I did that to pick the points back up.
I’ve stayed pretty busy at work this week so far, but then again it’s only Tuesday. I’m trying to stay on top of everything now so maybe I’ll have some chill time this week…like right now. I went out for lunch today by myself. It was very nice out and I didn’t want any downtown food today so I went a few miles down the road and got a small burger and fries from Checkers it was pretty good, not too filling, and great to get out for a bit. Everyone was stacked up to the right side which was not moving at all, so wiggled around the herd and was in and out of there in about 2 minutes while the others were piled up in the same place when I left.
I called and canceled my paper subscription this morning. I only got it on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but it was all old news by the time it was delivered. The coupons and the ads were the highlight, but I can stop by Bird’s house and get those if I want them. Today I tried to listen to a few new songs. I subscribe to an online music service and listen to it virtually all day in my headphones at the office. I tried to listen to 10 new songs today, but also had some others I wanted to hear, so here is a short play list of what I heard throughout the day.
- Gimme Danger (Frank Black and 3volution)
- Don’t Drag Me Down (Social Distortion)
- The Devil’s Chasing Me (Reverend Horton Heat)
- Salome (Old 97′s)
- The Killing Moon (Echo and the Bunnymen)
- Believe (The Bravery)
- My Best Friend (Hot Hot Heat)
- Falling Down (Scarlett Johannson)
- The Only Way (Tay “Chocolate Rain” Zonday)
- Can’t Stand Me Now- The Libertines
- Motherfucker from Hell- The Datsuns
- What Would I Know- The Datsuns
- Palmdale- Afroman
So that was my short-list for the day. The Scarlett Johannson song wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The song is is Tom Waits cover, but she did a good job with it.
Well, I’ve successfully killed enough time and I’m ready to go home now. I hope my favorite panhandler is by the on ramp today. He wears a red sparkle motorcycle helmet and sometimes will fool your ass on some crutches. I know I have better stories about this guy, but can’t think of any at the moment.
Looks like I’m going to play drums for the first time since 18 months ago when I screwed up my rotator cuff. I hope I don’t suck too bad.
Here I come traffic!
